bioshot002Davyd Oram, Artist.

b. 1980

Art has been the only consistent thread in my life. This note taking and mark making has been the barometer and indicator by which everything else has either flown out or burnt up and exploded. I like seeing fresh paint drips and broken up brushes. Charcoal and Chalk outlines and little scribbles everywhere. For a long while I ended up thinking like a lot of others that art was more simple a consumable idea like a canvas with some brush strokes to mark style on it. An idol for the wall placement type thing. More something consumable and objectifiable than something intimate and personal. That concept seems so foreign to my experiences and where my current body of work lay..

“It is anything and everything we can want it to be. And anyone trying to control that freedom is mistaken. Art is life. It’s that simple. No cliche. This is a lifestyle, and a method of living whereby passion and expression makes purpose. Paint strokes and pursuit make promise. And hapiness means a lot more than alot of material things. This heartbeat is a thunderclap. Stoked on inspiration, believing in this art we live until the day I die. Its my life. Its all I know, and the only way I can see things.”

The last few years I have been touring western Canada extensively as a performance artist doing live mural performances and featured talks alongside various musicians / events. You can find a description of one of those perfomances here.

If your organization or group is interested in doing some featured talks/interactions or live mural events, please do not hesitate to contact me through the methods provided.

I am now in a sponsorship/partnering arrangement with the Sakura brand/company. They provide me with product for my personal art works as well as promotional materials / product giveaways for my live mural events and student talks / lessons / interactions. Its a wonderful arrangement to get art supplies into the hands of creative minds and the public to explore with.
